LaMPs Shine Bright for Christmas
December 19, 2023, Mandaluyong City—“Makinang ang Pasko sa 736 Kalentong Street" (Christmas Sparkles at 736 Kalentong Street), not because of the lanterns and Christmas lights, but because of the radiant joy caught by the LaMPs from the Eternal Light, the true reason for this season, Jesus Christ. The LaMPs and Salesians spent December 16, 2023, together as a community, as a family.
The celebration began at Saint John Bosco Chapel with the source of Christmas light and joy, in recollection and Eucharistic Adoration. The LaMPs prayed together prompted by the reflection Fr. Nestor Impelido, SDB, shared. The recollection concluded with Eucharistic Adoration led by Fr. Ramil Maranan, SDB. There was an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, giving everyone a chance to be closer to God’s grace, preparing one’s heart to receive His Son.
At 4:00 pm, as dusk came, the LaMPs sparkled in their dazzling attires. Fr. Marc Will Lim, SDB, VP for Administration, gave the welcome remarks. Winners for the best-dressed were chosen. The top 10 all went home happy with generous cash rewards. Dinner was delicious and festive, giving the LaMPs the needed energy for their group presentations. Each of the five groups performed an act that is based on one of the four core values of the school: collaboration, service, spirituality, integrity, plus family spirit. Items promoting mental health, family time, and self-care were raffled off to the excitement of all the LaMPs.
Fr. Ronilo Basilio Javines, SDB, DBTC Rector/President, and the father of DBTC Family, closed the program with his Good Night Talk that contained the his year-end report. As a grand finale, a “video capsule” was shown summarizing like a flashback the events of 2023.
The celebration was unique and timely. It was an opportunity to deepen the essence of celebrating Christmas in modern times. It has strengthened the family spirit and boosted the morale of all the members of the LaMPs regardless of employment status.
