VPAd Speaks before fellow CPAs

Tacloban, Leyte - On September 28, 2023, the 39th Annual National Convention of the Association of CPAs in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI) brought together experts and thought leaders to discuss various topics related to the ever-evolving landscape of commerce and industry. Among the distinguished speakers invited was Fr. Marc Will Lim, SDB, Vice President for Administration of Don Bosco Technical College, Mandaluyong, who addressed the convention on the crucial theme of "Achieving Ethics and Honesty in the Workplace: Ethical Leadership & Ethical Decision Making."

Fr. Marc Will Lim, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) himself, kicked off the day's proceedings as the first speaker, taking the stage at 8:30 am at the Orient Hotel in Tacloban, Leyte. His presentation delved into the critical aspects of maintaining ethics and honesty in the workplace, emphasizing the role of ethical leadership and ethical decision-making processes in corporate environments.

  • 1:45 pm: What's In: Focus on Accounting Updates was discussed by Ms. Emy Bagnes, Partner at KPMG Philippines.

  • 3:30 pm: Navigating Key ESG Trends was the concluding topic, presented by Ms. Geraldine H. Apostol, Partner at PwC Philippines, focusing on shaping the business landscape.

Fr. Marc Will Lim's inclusion in this lineup of esteemed speakers highlighted the growing importance of ethics and moral values in the business world. As a qualified CPA, he brought a unique perspective to the convention, emphasizing the need for ethical leadership and decision-making as fundamental components of a thriving workplace environment. He achieved this by first sharing his lived experience as an administrator and he deepened the session with his insight and reflection on Hans Urs von Balthasar’s concept of the "concrete categorical imperative” which recognizes that Jesus serves as the ultimate model for ethical leadership.
