LaMPs Salesianity Formation: On the Environmental Situation
Today, February 23, 2024, the Lay Mission Partners (LaMPs) came together in St. John Bosco Chapel for their sixth Salesianity Formation under the guidance of Fr. Francis Gustilo, SDB, the esteemed head of the Institute of Spirituality of Salesian Studies.
In this gathering, the LaMPs are urged to confront the pressing environmental challenges of our time. Through the lens of Salesian values, they acknowledged their role as stewards of our common home and embraced the call to action.
"Our eyes are opened to the environmental situation," affirms Fr. Gustilo. "Our ears are inclined to act for others, and our hands are challenged to be catalysts of change."
At the heart of their mission lies the profound wisdom of Don Bosco, who beckons them to contribute to a greater environment. The concept of kinship, central to Salesian teachings, underscores their interconnectedness with nature and humanity, instilling a sense of accountability and responsibility.
Pope Francis once emphasized during his visit to Lampedusa, "When no one is to blame, everyone is to be blamed." These words resonate deeply with the LaMPs, inspiring them to take collective responsibility for the holistic well-being of our environment.
With zeal and determination, they continue their synodal journey, now more committed to making a tangible difference in the world around them. Through education, advocacy, and meaningful action, they strive to uphold the principles of stewardship and sustainability, embodying the spirit of Salesianity in their pursuit of a brighter, more harmonious future.
In this Salesianity formation, the LaMPs are enlightened with the transformative power of faith in action, embodying the timeless values of compassion, service, and environmental stewardship.
